When people see or hear the word “Grant”, people would most likely think this is free money or a privilege that they should have. This is pretty absurd especially that grants are really provided United States government. While it is true that there are $400 billion budget for grants annually, giving it for free is too exaggerated enough to be true.  Grants aren’t random money that is just given away for free. This neither is different from lottery awards nor would serve as awards from different sectors. Grants are simply given as a form of gift to a Grantee for being able to set the expectations or qualifications of the Grantor over a conditional agreement. This is one reason why grants are divided into different things like the following:

  • Education – College Grants
  • Emergency – Calamity Grants
  • Social Support – Grants for Single Moms, Grants for Elderly, etc.
  • Health – Hospitalization Grants and a lot more

Take into consideration that this grant has its own qualifications and even if it’s free, you will be obliged to fulfill an obligation which is stipulated on the contract before releasing the grant.

US whether by state or local gives the most number of grants to their citizen depending on where it is going to be used. Primarily grants are prioritized on public projects like streets repaving, city development, research, conservation, calamity control and for people who lost their loved ones. In certain cases, there are also grants provided for different occasions like exhibits, musicale, holiday celebration or even education purposes in which most cases are funded by private organization. Overall government prioritizes grants which can benefit the public.
